You Are What You Eat

You are what you eat! We have all heard this saying. You may not remember the first time, but indeed these words were planted in your consciousness. The first person that spoke the phrase had no idea that western civilization would become so disconnected from their food.

The food of the western world starts out with relatively good intention, whole food, but it is the journey this whole food takes before it goes into one’s mouth that is the problem. The whole food is grown with the help of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, gets picked by machine, is heavily processed with artificial ingredients and then packaged in plastics with a very long shelf life. This is what the average westerner consumes as their food. If "you are what you eat" and you eat chemicalized, artificially processed food, then you become open to any of the many western chronic diseases: diabetes, cancer, heart disease, IBS... The list is long and the suffering is happening every day. What you eat becomes every part of you; your blood, your tissues, your thoughts. We have all heard it: "You are what you eat." Why then, does a large portion of the western world choose to dig its grave with their fork?

Let me share a foolproof way to keep your body from experiencing DIS-EASE. "You are what you eat!" Say that 25 times every morning when you open your eyes. Listen to your body from an intuitive level; it is trying very hard to tell you that your diet is causing dis-ease. The headaches, stiffness, stuffy nose, sore throat, pink eye, or tumor is the body saying, "You are what you eat." The French fries, soda, coffee, chips, low fat this and that, sugar free toxic material and tortured, drug laden animal food is quickly breaking down a civilization to the point that obesity and ADHD are occurring at mind boggling rates. Don’t believe everything you see and hear on television ads and in the grocery store, go back to listening to your body to decide if it is FOOD!

Enough about the doom and gloom of the Standard American Diet, the diet primarily brought about by the FDA and the big business lobbyists, let’s talk about a way to eat for life! You are what you eat! Eat organically grown food, food free of chemicals with names ending in "ide", to kill, (pesticide, herbicide, and fungicide). Organically grown fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains and grasses are full of life! Try to eat these foods from Mother Nature in their raw state; boiling, frying, baking, steaming and grilling destroy most of the life force in foods. Life force, or naturally occurring enzymes, are present to help the body digest food and give the body the nutrients and elements the sun, water and air gave the food while growing. These raw vegan foods have all the protein, vitamins, minerals and fat you need to live dis-ease free! Really, I am serious, Mother Nature created a full spectrum of colorful selections that are totally packed with the elements of life! Make your transformation slowly by crowding out the processed packaged dis-ease promoting selections with food filled with life. You will not only be adding years to your life, you will be adding life to your years.

On paper this sounds very easy, but breaking food addictions is far from easy. Getting support can help you to make this change, and make it a lifestyle. Collect some friends who are sick and tired of being sick and tired, enlist a spouse or family member, attend lectures and get educated or hire a professional health counselor. Whatever you decide to do, go get focused and eat your way to dis-ease free living.

Remember "you are what you eat"!
